Who We Are

Peguis Child & Family Services is one of ten agencies within the Southern First Nations Network of Care mandated to provide programs and services to our people that protect our children, promote family wellness, and strengthen our community.

We were incorporated as an agency under the Child and Family Services Act on April 1st, 1999. Our predecessors included Anishinaabe Child and Family Services from 1980 to 1987, and Intertribal Child & Family Services from 1988-1999.

Today, Peguis Child and Family Services Inc. serves the members of the largest First Nation in Manitoba both on and off reserve. As of March 2008, the total population of band members was 7578, with 1407 children on reserve.

We provide a wide range of services to our community including: Child Protection, Abuse Investigations, Voluntary Family Services, Advocacy, Repatriations, Counseling, Mediations, Foster Care, Recruitment & Licensing of Foster Homes, Other Support Services, Mentorship, Apprehensions, Emergency Placements, Adoptions, Mediation, Intake and Court Services.

We also host several events including the Annual Children in Care Christmas Party, the Annual Family Fun Day, and the Foster Family BBQ.
